Endorphins
All my life, I had never been great at sports. Like in school, when others were playing softball, I’d be hanging out with Tim listening to his boombox. So it was to my own surprise when I discovered a newfound love for running.
“I have a route I usually do,” said Tim when we met up the next day. “It’s a few miles.”
Doing this run was challenging to say the least.
“How much longer?” I said.
“We just started dude,” said Tim laughingly.
I didn’t think I was going to make it. And my side was hurting like hell.
“You just gotta run through it,” said Tim. “It gets easier.”
“Ok this is where we finish,” he said as we were approaching the park.
We slowed down our pace until we were just walking. We headed over to the picnic tables. All of a sudden I noticed a feeling. I was feeling really good. Almost like I was high or something.
“I feel great now,” I said.
“I know, right?” said Tim. “Haven’t you heard of runner’s high?”
“I don’t think so,” I admitted.
“That’s what they call it,” he said. “People get this high feeling after a long run. All your endorphins start kicking in.”
“Endorphins huh?”
“Yup.”
“Well, I gotta say. I love these endorphins!”
