Guitar Wars

Whenever we got together for practice, Mick and I had this little game. We would always try to outdo each other with whatever new riff we had learned during the week. For me it would just be any guitar riff that was interesting enough for me to want to figure out. Some of these included “Ain’t Talkin’ ‘bout Love”. Or “Let It Go” by Def Leppard. Or “Rock Bottom” by UFO.
Mick would do the same thing on bass. He always seemed to know the songs that had cool bass lines. Some of the good ones were “Sweet Emotion” by Aerosmith and “The Joker” by the Steve Miller Band. Another good one was “Low Rider” by War.
At some point, this playful rivalry became known within the band as “Guitar Wars”. Usually everyone would join in and it would often lead to a killer jam.
