High In High School
In first period class I was feeling pretty good but not paying much attention to the lecture. When the teacher finished, he told us to take a few minutes to read the next few pages in the book.
Angie turned around and looked at me. "What page are we on?"
I had no idea as I looked up and saw her face. “I was going to ask you that.”
Then she looked at me for a second which seemed like a minute.
"Hey, you're high aren't you?" she said as she started laughing.
"No. Shh, be quiet" I said. The last thing I needed was to get busted.
"Yeah you are. Hey look Tommy's high," she said to Derek who was sitting to my right. He started laughing.
"Ok. Be quiet though." The paranoia started kicking in and I thought I was going to get caught.
Angie turned around again.
“You’re high in high school,” she said.
“Ok. Stop laughing though.”
She then started singing the chorus to “High in High School” by Madam X which made me start cracking up. I instantly went from being paranoid to having the giggles. Damn. She was right. I was high in high school. Suddenly I related to that song on a whole new level.
