Love You To Pieces
Rose looked over. “I heard you play that before. Is it one of yours?”
“I wish. It’s just a Lizzy Borden song,” I said. “Hey Tim. You have the album right?”
“Sure do,” he said as he went to go get it.
“Cool. Because I was thinking this might be a good cover to do next.”
Tim brought out the record and played the song on his stereo.
“Wow,” said Rose. “It’s kind of creepy right?”
I had to admit, she was right. “You don’t like it?”
“Actually, I love it,” she said. “Show me those chords.”
I started showing her and Tim pulled out a blank cassette. “I’ll make you a tape. Let’s learn it for our next practice.”
We all agreed and the next day at practice, we tried playing the new song. Even on our first try, it was pretty intense. We finished the song and I looked over at Rose. “I swear to God, when you hit some of those high notes, it sent a shiver down my spine.”
“Thanks,” said Rose with a grin that was a little bit mischievous. “That was as intended.”
