Mutt Lange
The day of the studio I woke up from a weird dream. It was about us being in the studio and Mutt Lange was our producer. It was funny because, in real life, I had no idea what the guy even looked like. But in my dream he looked like this dude who I always saw working at Guitar Center. This dream was filled with a lot of anxiety because he kept telling us to make all these changes to our songs. He seemed to get offended whenever we questioned any of his suggestions. Some of them seemed really weird, even in the context of a dream. But then he kept reminding us about how he was the reason AC/DC and Def Leppard made it big. At one point, I was about to tell him that I actually liked the older AC/DC albums better. The ones produced by Harry Vanda and George Young. That’s when I woke up with a sense of relief. But holy shit that was weird.
I had to laugh at how I acted in the dream. If that was real life, we’d be lucky as hell to have someone like Mutt producing us. As little as I knew about him, it was obvious that he knew how to make an album sound incredible.
