Power Ballad
“You know what we need?” said Rose one day at practice. “We need a good power ballad.”
This made Tim laugh. “That’s not very punk rock of you.”
“I know,” she said with a smirk. “But fuck it. We need something for the chicks right?”
“You do have a point,” said Mick.
Rose plugged in her guitar and started playing an acoustic chord progression that had power ballad written all over it.
“Wait. Keep playing that,” I said as I picked up my guitar. I suddenly had a spark of inspiration. It was a beautiful chord progression and seemed like something that would be cool to solo over. I started with a slow melody that fit pretty well. Rose kept playing the chords and I slowly transitioned to playing fast. For a minute, I forgot about the world around me as I let the notes pour out.
