Dio At The San Jose Civic
“So are you going to Dio?” I said, changing the subject.
“Hell yeah,” said Omar. “Queensrÿche’s opening. Plus it’s at the San Jose Civic. Have you been there?”
“No, not yet,” said Tim.
“I think you’ll like it,” said Omar. “It’s a killer place to see shows.”
“Is it as good as the Cow Palace?”
“No, it’s way better,” said Omar. “The Civic is about 5 times smaller. So it’s easier to get a great view of the stage. Also, it’s in San Jose. So we can just take the bus.”
“That rocks,” said Tim. “We won’t need to rely on our parents to give us a ride.”
The day of the show we were excited as hell. Dio was touring in support of his Holy Diver album. And Queensrÿche were the opening act. They didn’t have a full length album out yet. Just a self-titled EP. But it was pretty strong. I really liked the songs “Queen of the Reich” and “The Lady Wore Black”, both of which were getting airplay on KOME.
