The Sunset Strip
The next day at practice, Rose looked over while I was writing down some lyrics. “Is that a new song?”
“Yeah, just something I’m working on,” I said. “It’s about partying on the Sunset Strip. Hey, why are you laughing?”
“You’re too funny,” she said. “What do you know about the Sunset Strip?”
“Well. I mean. I know about partying.”
“Ok, I’ll give you that,” she said, still laughing.
“So I just extrapolate a little. You know. You’ve seen the interviews. It’s like a never ending party down there. Hanging out at the Rainbow. And the Troubadour.”
I had to think for a second.
“Oh and the Roxy,” I continued. “And the Whisky a Go Go. And…”
“Ok I get it,” she said, cutting me off.
“I’m just saying. It’s about having a great time. You know. Hanging out with all the other bands.”
“And groupies?” she said with a smirk.
Her frankness made me laugh.
