It then occurred to me what the perfect buzz really was. It wasn't about drinking or doing drugs. Sure I still liked to have some beer now and then. But the perfect buzz was more like a higher state of consciousness. For me it was from things like playing music. To me, this was one of the best feelings in the world. Being in a room with your friends and connecting with each other through our instruments. It was sometimes unpredictable. But that’s what I loved. We never knew where the jam would take us. We were improvising. And we were connected. Someone would play something new that we didn't expect and we would follow the lead and see where it would take us.
