Tommy Lee

We played it a few times and then I had an idea. “How about another song from that album?” I started playing the intro to “Merry-Go-Round”, and was happy to see that Rose knew the words. Even more impressive was when Tim came in on the drums. Because he reenacted something I remembered seeing Tommy Lee do when we saw them live at the Civic. During the mellow part, he did this thing where he would hold up one finger and then hit the bass drum one time. Then he would hold up 2 fingers, and hit the bass drum 2 times. He alternated this back and forth until the chorus which came in with a regular beat.

At first it made me laugh. But Tim stayed in character and followed through with it all the way to the chorus.
“That was a pretty rad Tommy Lee impression you did,” I said when the song was over.
“Thanks dude,” he said. “I’m glad you noticed.”
